Hummus is a great, healthy snack that you can dip almost anything into!
Since quitting sugar it seems to be one of my biggest go to snacks as it goes with virtually anything - crudités, salads, toast, crackers, baked potatoes.
Hummus is filled with goodness, it's packed with fibre , protein, healthy fats, vitamins and antioxidant boosting garlic too.
It's easy to see why its a staple in the Mediterranean diet.
Most children love Hummus too, my daughter was obsessed with it when she was little.
If I'm feeling low on energy or peckish, hummus is the perfect snack with chopped cucumber and carrot.
If you decide to quit sugar and go on a sugar detox, hunger can be your greatest enemy, and having plenty of handy snacks is essential to stop you reaching for something sweet.
It is so simple to make and will keep for a few days too.
A jar of tahini will last you a good few batches too, so you don't have to buy lots of ingredients, which is great for keeping costs down.
INGREDIENTS
2 garlic cloves,
2 15-oz cans of cooked chickpeas (garbanzo beans) drained
2/3 cup of tahini
Juice of 1 lemon
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 teaspoon of salt
METHOD
Blend all the ingredients together in the processor until you get a consistency you like.
Really, it's that simple!
